At Hired By Startups we’re working with a rapidly scaling European tech startup, hiring a Business Development Manager to help establish their UK B2B sales function.

This Series B startup has a team of 100 people in their European HQ & offices but have only recently launched in the UK.

About the role

As Business Development Manager, you’ll be joining the UK team of 10 people to establish the UK B2B sales function. Reporting to the European Head of B2B Sales, you will:

  • Help define the B2B value proposition and sales process for the UK market.
  • Proactively source new leads and identify key stakeholders – targeting SMEs.
  • Conduct cold outreach – emails, calls, social messaging to book sales meetings.
  • Engage with warm, inbound leads generated by the marketing team.
  • Conduct sales meetings, close deals and onboard B2B customers.
  • Play a key role in scaling the function, growing your own team once you’ve achieved sales traction.

About you

As Business Development Manager, you’ll need:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a B2B sales / business development role.
  • Proven track record for building a portfolio of clients from scratch.
  • Experience in a tech startup / scale-up would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience selling to SMEs – ideally in property or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience selling products with short sales cycles (circa 2 weeks).
  • A true hunter mentality, you’ll love finding new leads and closing deals.
  • Experience hiring and training new sales execs would be beneficial but isn’t necessarily required.
  • The ability to build and adapt a sales cadence.
  • Experience with tools such as Hubspot or Salesforce would be highly beneficial.

  • £40k-£45k base salary
  • Uncapped commission (£60k-£65k OTE)
