Have you ever thought “I could build a sales function from the ground up and create a scalable revenue machine. If only I had the opportunity, freedom and funding to do it!”

Well, here’s your chance!

We’re working with an early stage EdTech startup, hiring someone to build and scale their sales function.

This startup has spent the last 2.5 years in stealth, building an AI powered tool to redefine an entire segment of the education market. Having received pre-seed funding from a prominent London VC and proven product market fit through initial Founder-led sales and circa 100k user tests, they’re now looking to scale the commercial side of the business.

Pinch yourself, this might sound like a dream. Having recently emerged from stealth, this startup’s market leading AI powered educational product is a wild improvement on the closest competition. The Founder, with no prior sales experience, is currently converting 80% of product demos into sales.

Your job, as Head of Sales, is to scale revenue as quickly as possible. You’ll have a blank slate in terms of people, tools and processes and thousands of education institutions screaming out for this type of product.

You’ll likely start by rolling up your sleeves and winning clients yourself to get a real feel for nuances of the sale. From there, you’ll be expected to create and execute the sales strategy, build and manage a team, implement the necessary sales tools and processes to create a highly optimised sales function. Producing and reporting on results to the CEO.

You’ll need to have previously worked in B2B tech / SaaS sales. End to end experience is vital, from sourcing leads to closing deals and even managing relationships with existing clients. If you’ve gained this experience in a tech startup / scale-up that would be great.

Ideally you’ll have experience selling technology to the education sector, specifically secondary schools & 6th form colleges. Clearly an existing network of education contacts would be extremely useful.

It would be great if you have experience actually building a sales function from the ground up. But if you haven’t, maybe you’ve worked in a high performing sales function and could reverse engineer that to create something scalable. You’ll need to show you have experience hiring, training and managing other sales people.

£40k-£50k base salary, depending on experience, plus uncapped commission (approx double OTE). As Head of Sales, you’ll likely be heavily involved in setting targets & sales commission packages which will likely be up to 50% commission per deal. Clearly, this will heavily impact your own earning potential.

The Founder wants to build a primarily remote team so you can work from wherever you like. However, they’ll cover the cost of a co-working space if you prefer not to work from home.
